Quilts: Kaleidoscopes..Paula Nadelstern, One Block Wonders

I managed to find time to squeeze in a guild comfort quilt this week and this one is called 4-Patch Stacked Posies by H.D.Designs. It is a simpler version of the Stack and Whack technique. We found a fabulous large print black and white fabric to us and added a red inner border to allow the bit of red in the fabric to pop! Turned out great and I love how each of the block are so different. I quilted it with the Popcorn pantograph, used black So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Another Patchwork class that I have attended at Kates, was the Stack and Whack. After choosing 5 complementary colours and then a contrast for the border, it was just a matter of cutting and sewing. It was a long day full of sewing but at the end of the day, I had pieced together the top of my Stack and Whack Quilt. It was then off to get assembled and quilted. The quilting was done by a local lady and came up wonderful.

Helen cross stitched this pre-marked quilt. Luckily, the markings were still dark enough for me to follow the predesigned quilting pattern. She knew that she wanted puffy polyester batting and the design really pops! I wish I could see it after she washes out the blue markings! It is fun to compare the quilted and unquilted areas. I took this photo as I was working on it.
