This is THE basic pattern that everyone should have. I am using this to teach my class on Top Down Raglan. There are suggestions on many modifications. Pattern PDF has 6 pages, with colour photos, schematic, metric and imperial measurements This is a standard fitting garment and has approx 5-10 cm/ 2-4 ins of ease, worked in one piece. Choose a size approx 5 cm/ 2 ins larger than your bust/chest measurement, or more for a looser fit. Knitting Pattern Serein Sweater Top Down Raglan Turtleneck Knitting Pattern
The Serein is an advanced beginner, top down, turtleneck sweater knitting pattern. It is meant for casual days, perfect to wear every day. It features a simple rolled turtle neck, sleeve cuffs and bottom hem. First the neckline and yoke is created and shaped using German short rows, leaning increases are used for raglan increases. Worked in the round in stockinette stitch all the way through. It is slightly oversized and it is intended to be worn with at least 10 cm (4”) of positive ease. The pattern is written in American knitting terms, with minimal abbreviations, making it suitable for advanced beginners. Sizes Bust size of the finished sweater with 10 to 15 cm (4” to 6”) of positive ease built into the pattern is XS 35”, S 38”, M 42”, L 46”, XL 50”, 2XL 54”, 3XL 58”, 4XL 61“, 5XL 65” inches, (XS 89, S 94, M 104, L 114, XL 124, 2XL 134, 3XL 144, 4XL 153, 5XL 163 cm). Model is wearing size M on 93 cm bust. Please note that the correct size can only be achieved if the correct gauge is achieved. See the final measurements before you decide on the size. Gauge 21 stitches by 32 rows = 4” x 4” (10 x 10 cm) using size US 6 / 4.00 mm needles in stockinette stitch, in the round after washing and blocking. Suggested Yarn 335, (360), 405, (445), 490, (530), 575, (625), 665 grams of the Clinton Hill Cashmere Bespoke dk (11wpi) 50 grams = 114 meters /125 yards. Featured in color 5013B. Suggested needles For the neck and first half of the yoke you will need double pointed needles or (short tip) 10”- 12” size US 6 / 4.00 mm + 16”, 32”or 40” US 6 / 4.00 mm, 25 cm, 40 cm, 80 cm or 100 cm circular knitting needles or size to obtain gauge. For the hem you will need US 2 / 3.00 mm 32” or 40” / 80cm or 100 cm circular knitting needles. Longer needles can be used for the neck and the sleeves if you use magic loop method.
