This sweater is inspired by traditional patterns found on old knitting in the valley of Setesdal, Norway. Setesdal is a 200 km long valley in South Norway that stretches a few miles from the coast and all the way up to West-Telemark and Hardangervidda. Setesdal has one of the richest and best kept arts and crafts traditions in Norway. Knitted bottom up, it breaks the tradition a little by having a seamless raglan shaping for the shoulders. The pattern is knitted in light beige color on a dark black-grey background. Stranded Norwegian knitting pattern in 2 colors, with raglan yoke. Amount of yarn used: 15 balls of aran weight yarn (Dale cotinga). Needle size US 7 (4,5 mm). Pattern is for one size L (boyfriend size) – but fits both men and women. down hybrid, which means that the yoke is worked first, cast on provisionally and knit from the bottom up. After the yoke and neckline has been completed, the body and sleeves are worked top down from the cast on edge. It might sound complicated, but it is not – it is easy. And the best part is you get to knit the most fun part first; the stranded hearts pattern! And the sleeves and body length can be adjusted to fit perfectly because you knit them top down, and can try it on along the way 🙂 The sweater is very basic and simple, and the short rows creates a very comfortable and nice fit 🙂 Written pattern with graphic charts, available in both English and Norwegian.
