The Design “This sweater has scope!” Here’s a pattern for the simple sweater you’d be willing to buy, if only you could find it: The fit is easy, styling simple, fabric relaxed, and details just right. The flattering dropped shoulder creates a roomy armhole without the usual excess fabric bunching under the arm. The slim, straight cuff tapers up to the armhole. And a little short-row shaping allows the front and back hemline to hang more evenly when worn. You can easily customize the style and fit. We’ve shown a couple of combinations of length and edgings but you can play with the variables (short with long ribbing, long with short . . .) or change the length entirely to suit you. This listing is for an instant downloadable knitting pattern. Little Rattie stands just 9 inches/23cms (approximately) tall. He is knitted flat and assembled and has a choice of a tutu or little vest to keep him warm. He has whiskers and embroidered eyes, full directions are included to create these. You could of course use toy safety eyes, I would advise 8 or 10mm. If these are being given to a baby I would suggest knitting these with nice soft cotton Aran/worsted weight yarn but I have had great results using acrylic and wool yarns too. For an older child/adult of course you can use a variety of textured, furry/fuzzy yarns. There are so many readily available today that we are quite spoilt for choice. Please see yarn suggestions below to see what I have already tried. If you wish to use double knit please lower your needle size to 3mm/3US. Your character will be a little smaller. Yarn Suggestions: I have used Drops Paris cotton Aran and Lily’s Sugar and Cream solids. Both of these yarns have a lovely array of colour choices.
