This maritime block print is inspired by the traditional Japanese wave (Seigaiha) pattern. This is block printed by hand using six different hand-carved stamps. This print consists of 24 individual stamp impressions. For each impression the respective stamp is inked and aligned by hand on the thick mount board to generate the print. DETAILS: * Dimensions: Cardboard size = 15×21 cm approx. (DIN A5, 5.9×8.3 inch approx.); printed area = cardboard size (printed right to the edge) * Paper: white 1090 gsm mount board, 1.5 mm thick (acid free, without optical brightness additives, optimum age resistance) * Ink: vibrant fade resistant pigment inks . * Each print is handmade and unique. Due to the nature of the block printing process (with roughly 25 individual impressions of the stamps, all carefully positioned and printed one after the other by hand) there might be slight variations and imperfections in the prints different to the prints pictured here. These variations make each of t
he prints unique and are completely natural to the block printing process. As the mount board is cut by hand, very slight variations in size may appear. * All prints are signed on the back by the artist (aka me). * These prints are part of an open edition. * Sold unframed. This listing is for one block print. Stamps and carving tools not included. The color may differ slightly from the original color due to different monitor settings. * For shipping, the print will be carefully packaged with sturdy cardboard backing and a strong cardboard envelope in order to prevent damage during the shipping process. I love these bags! They are minimalist, simple, and yet they make a statement. With traditional Japanese patterns are unique. They are not big, but it’s a good enough size for your phone, wallet, and whatever you need. They can also be wrapped around your wrist. They are about 35cm by 32cm and they are in canvas material.

Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese squire fabric that has been around for over a thousand years. The tradition can be traced all the way back to the Nara Period. It’s so versatile and multi-purpose because of its simple shape. The possibilities are limitless. It also makes a great gift wrapping. Yumeji Takehisa (1884 – 1934) was a Japanese poet, painter, and designer from the Taisho Era. These beautiful patterns and unique hues are based on Yumeji’s work.
