Quilts and Quilt Blocks
I am so happy to introduce my first pattern here on etsy. This quilt is a mixture of black and white fat quarters that I had on hand. The black and white needed a little more so I added some flowers and the bright pink was just perfect! This pattern is aimed at beginners. Not much cutting and easy applique. The pattern is easy to follow and you really can put your own touches on the quilt. A template for the flowers is included. The template can be made bigger or smaller depending on the size of flower that you want. There are three sizes represented here on the sample quilt. MATERIALS REQUIRED: 6 fat quarters in varying patterns of black and white 2 fat quarters in bright pink (or other bright color) for the flowers ½ yard solid white for the border ⅜ yard bright pink for the binding Heat and bond (if desired) for appliqué flowers 3 yards of a coordinating color for backing 47” x 52” batting Finished size 43\

Crochet bright and scrappy
Like cats? Handy with a crochet hook? Always wanted to memorialise your puss but didn’t know how? Then this is the pattern for you. Quick and easy, this playful crochet square is ripe for customising to your favourite feline. THE PATTERN The Many Cats Square is worked in simple stitches. The background square is worked in joined rounds and the appliqué cat is sewn on afterwards. The written pattern is for ONE SQUARE and ONE KIND OF CAT. It includes detailed notes and plenty of colour photographs, as well as suggestions on how to personalise your cat. I also give you some tips if you want to join your squares into a cushion. Note these are tips only, rather than written instructions. CROCHET TERMINOLOGY The pattern is written in English in UK crochet terms. A conversion chart to US terms is included. LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY Adventurous beginner: a few different techniques but nothing particularly challenging. THINGS YOU’LL NEED I used DK/8ply yarn (tapestry wool) in 6 colours and a 4mm (US G/6) hook. But feel free to substitute any weight yarn and its appropriate-sized hook – your measurements and yardage may vary accordingly. This is a great project for using those fancy, furry art yarns you have in your cupboard. For one square you will need about 10m (11 yds) for the main background colour and about 9m (10yds) for the cat, plus smaller amounts for the other colours. For
the eyes, I used 6mm safety eyes. You could use beads or black yarn instead. And if you make your squares into a cushion, you’ll need a cushion insert. Mine measures about 45cmx 45cm (18in x 18in). MEASUREMENTS Using DK/8-ply weight yarn and a 4mm (US G/6) hook, your square will measure 10cm x 10cm (4in x 4in) after blocking. ———————————————————————- Please note that this is a beautifully-formatted and printable PDF version of a pattern that can be found for free, with ads, on my blog. crochet how to’s
I first learned how to crochet at the young age of nine when my mum taught me how to make a simple granny square, and it was love at first sight. Granny squares are such an iconic part of crochet history, as that is how grandmothers and mothers taught daughters, who became mothers themselves whom …
