If you are an Outlander fan, you are going to love this super quick replica pattern of the shawl Claire wears in Season 4 – Drums of Autumn. The pattern uses just a few basic stitches and techniques. I tried to give it that knit-like appearance resulting in lots of great texture. This wrap would also make a great triangle scarf as the size and colors are easily altered. This scarf or wrap would make a great birthday or Christmas gift! Skill Level: Beginner to Easy Ideally, any sock, sport, DK, or worsted weight (#1-4) yarn should work for this project. I used Lion Brand Heartland yarn in Great Sand Dunes (3 skeins) and Sequoia (1 skein), approximately 725 yards. Finished size is approximately 26 inches from top to bottom and spans 56 inches. Wrap/scarf can be made to desired size using 1 row repeat. All patterns are in English, using US standard crochet terms. I have added a lot of working pictures to help show how I completed a stitch. Written in standard American knitting instructions. July 2020, the “perfect pocket shawl” started circulating Facebook and Instagram like wildfire. Many friends and family tagged me in posts, asking me to make one. But there was one problem – it’s a crochet pattern! Unfortunately, I can’t crochet, and not for lack of trying. My brain simply refuses to learn! So, I decided to interpret the design into knit, using a super bulky yarn to speed up the process. My friend Hope volunteered to be my first customer of this design, so this shawl is named after her. The word “hope” is also extremely meaningful to me this year, as the world is in a state of chaos. Ready for a peaceful little knitting project? The purpose of this project was to make something that could be of comfort to the recipient and would be easy and peaceful for the maker as well. Comfort shawls are given to friends, family or even are made as donations to churches or hospitals for those going through difficult times or illness. Because this yarn is so soft and the pattern works up so easily, I’m really happy with how it turned out. My aunt recently went through a terribly difficult time of loss and received a crocheted comfort shawl from church.
