Sackboy has always been one of my top project I wanted to knit but have always been occupy with other things. I found Alan Dart’s sackboy version but wanted to have a happy face for him, so I made some alteration to the pattern. I knitted every thing in the round since I hate seaming. For his happy face, I binded off 24 stitches and cast back on 24 stitches on the next row between the last inc row and the first dec row for the head. The hands were a little tricky too and I didn’t really like having all five fingers. I wanted the hands to look more like the sackboy i purchased from the shop so I only knitted a thumb for him and have the other 4 fingers knitted together. I thought it looked better this way. I also used snap buttons for the joints because I wanted it to be moveable just like in the game. Anyway below is the alteration I made to Alan Dart’s sackboy version. Please note that I only made changes to its Head and hands. Other parts are knitted as directed by Alan Dart. Yarn: Naturally Loyal 8ply/DK Needles: 3.25mm needles 40cm circular needles Mouth: With the circular needle cast on 8 stitches. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place a stitch marker on the first stitch. Row 1: knit Row 2: kfb to every stitch [16 sts] Row 3: knit Row 4: (K1, kfb) to end [24 sts] Row 5: knit Row 6: (K2, kfb) to end [32 sts] Row 7: knit Row 8: (K3, kfb) to end [40 sts] Row 9: knit Row 10: (K4, kfb) to end [48 sts] bind off. Tongue With the straight needle cast on 8 stitches. Row 1-4: knit Row 5: ssk, k4, k2tog Row 6: ssk, k2, k2tog Bind off. Head: With the circular needle cast on 12 stitches.
