A beautifully simple textured heart sits at the front of this precious little preemie and baby hat. This super popular 4 Ply knitting pattern is easy to knit and a great project for a new knitter. Four preemie sizes are also included in this knitting pattern to ensure the tiniest premature baby has a hat that fits perfectly. The little newborn hats shown here have been knitted in Rowan’s beautifully soft Super Fine Merino 4 Ply on 2.75mm (US2) and 3.25mm (US3) needles. English language pattern that was made using both US and UK/Australian terminology to make a preemie sized hat for intermediate skill level. Premature babies need clothes fast as they make a hasty entry into this world. The pattern was written for babies with 20-25 cm (8-10 inches) head circumference, but is relatively easy to adjust to different sizes as you will probably discover. This attractive pattern is easier to make than it looks and only needs about 20 grams of yarn and a few hours of work. The pattern will give you a nicely textured and elastic hat that resembles a knitted hat. You will need your choice of yarn with the right size crochet hook for the yarn, a pair of scissors, and tapestry needle. The hat in the photos was made of 3 ply Patons Dreamtime wool (fingering for UK and 2 ply for USA) using a 3 mm hook (between C-2 and D-3 for USA). Also suitable for dolls.
