Period Patterns Sewing Pattern Number 93 Bags, Purses and Pouches Pattern Condition: Uncut, factory folded and complete with instructions, historical notes and illustrations. A Mediaeval Miscellanea publication Period Patterns no. 93 contains 23 general methods for making purses and attached pouches, dagger hangers, etc. It also has patterns for 46 specific bags, pouches and purses. This is an excellent pattern for making accessories to compliment Medieval – Renaissance costumes. The bags, purses and pouches in this pattern can be varied infinitely. Step-by-step illustrated instructions are given for the basic methods of sewing the different types of bags, followed by specific instructions for the bags illustrated on the cover. Bags, purses and pouches were essential when the use of pockets in clothing was unknown, only the rich had secure storage for their small valuable items. As with other necessary items of clothing specialized pouches developed, such as hunting bags (to hold game); pilgrim’s bags (big enough to carry everything necessary for a long journey); and gaming pouches, to hold dice and other game pieces.

Costuming

This is a digital download. PDF sewing pattern. A4 printable files for printing on a home printer. Large format files are also included. (A0) Evening elegance! An off the shoulder dress with fetching bell sleeves. The dress features three layers, the outer main fabric layer, an inner supporting layer and a lining for comfort. Which means the dress can be made to be very fitting around the bodice area whilst still being supportive, if required. The fastening is a zip and hook and eye, although the pattern could be easily adjusted to use loops and lacing instead. To add the extra wow factor with this pattern use an underskirt for added volume. There is no underskirt pattern included although a long multi-purpose A-line underskirt can be found with the other patterns. This is an intermediate to advanced sewing pattern, you will need to be able to understand sewing pattern symbols, work with multiple layers of fabric including lining, as well as boning one layer for additional support. If in any doubt refer to a good sewing book.
