Quilting

Alright – here it is! The final block in our Patchwork Quilt Along journey. I can’t believe it’s already month 12. All year we’ve been sewing along with the Fat Quarter Shop as they released a new block each month. Can I just tell you how excited I am to get to the next step and be able to start piecing these blocks together? Here’s my basket of all 72 blocks! This month’s block is called Mother’s Own and you can find the free block pattern here (scroll down to where the December block is listed). The Whirlwind Quilt Block goes by a bunch of other names – Modern Envelope, Twin Sisters, Water Wheel, etc, etc. The traditional Whirlwind quilt block uses only 2 colors but I saw one on Facebook
that had 4 fabrics and wanted to figure it out for you (and me)! I’ll show you 2 different ways to sew this block together and talk about another way that I’ve seen online.
