KNIT WASHCLOTH PATTERN (SIMPLE WEAVE) – DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ## ## SEE SHOP POLICIES FOR E-MAIL RESPONSE TIME AND DIGITAL ## DOWNLOAD POLICY ## This pattern is a combination simple weave with lace/eyelet border. It starts at a point and ends at a point increasing and decreasing in size as it progresses. Because I prefer the border of the basic washcloth over the borders in many of the pattern books, I decided to combine it with some of my favorite patterns creating a new take on existing designs. Create the plain washcloth by simply replacing all the purl stitches with knit stitches. The lace/eyelet border gives you the versatility of creating something other than a washcloth. Maybe a hot mat in a few simple steps. (1) Create 2 washcloths. (2)Insert a piece of plastic canvas (the size of the inner square) in the middle. Anchor with needle and thread so it does not shift or show through the washcloth. (3) Sew or crochet around the outer sides and weave with ribbon in and out the border ribs if desired. If or when the hot mat is not needed, separate the two and use them as washcloths. Picture 4 of the ad includes an image of the pattern. Picture 5 of the ad includes an image of hot mat possibilities. You will find that the finished product is irregular in shape and needs to be formed into a square. I use a 9.5 inch square piece of styrofoam poster board to stretch the washcloth over and pin down. Optionally, a light spray of starch can be applied. I also let it sit on the stretcher overnight. (Refer to image 6) BEGINNING SKILL SETS REQUIRED: Knit, Purl, Yarn Over, Cast On, Bind Off If you have internet capability, I recommend YouTube as an instructional resource. NEEDLE SIZE: 6 or 7 ABREVIATIONS: – K1=Knit 1, P1=Purl 1, – YO=Yarn Over. Bring yarn to front of working piece. Prepare to knit – K2TOG=Knit 2 Together – ((P1, K1)*5) = Repeat (Purl 1, Knit1 ) 5 Times WASHCLOTH SIZE: approximately 8 to 9 inch square depending on needle size and gauge

This pattern is written for a square cloth, but can easily be modified into a rectangular cloth if that fits your needs better.
