A special baby blanket knitted in DK weight yarn. The easy to work pattern looks like little sail boats and would be just as pretty in a coloured yarn as it does in white. Suitable for beginners as well as more experienced knitters, the pattern is easy to memorise once set up, so is ideal for a take along project. To work this pattern you will need to be able to knit and purl, decrease and work yarn overs. There is a central decrease in the pattern and this is explained fully in the abbreviations. The pattern is written for two sizes of blanket, 71 x 81 cm / 28 x 32 inches and a larger 86 x 96.5 cm / 34 x 38 inches. Any suitable DK weight yarn is suitable. You will need : 800 m / 875 yards [1155 m / 1263 yds ] DK weight yarn. Gauge/tension: 22 sts x 28 rows to 10 cm / 4 inches in stocking stitch. Instructions: The pattern has both written and charted instructions so you can work from whichever you prefer. A list of abbreviations and explanation of any special or unusual stitches in given in the pattern. Needles: 3.75 mm [US5] needle OR a size needle to get the required tension. A long circular needle is recommended to accommodate the number of stitches.
