The Brighten Blanket was designed to be a simple, natural and timeless blanket. Included are instructions for both a baby blanket size and the throw size. It is easy to make because it is made up of basic knit and purl stitches, yet the different sections keep it interesting. The baby blanket size is knit with worsted weight (10 ply) yarn and size 8 needles. The throw size is knit with super bulky yarn and size 13 needles. The finished size of the baby blanket is approximately 29 by 35 inches. The blanket design was inspired by watching my baby’s delight when she saw busy bees buzzing around lavender in our garden. Everyone was happy – the baby, the bees and the flowers! This easy to knit pattern uses just knit and purl stitches to create this striking design. The pattern is illustrated and everything is written out – there are no charts to follow. You can arrange the bees wherever you like – making your blanket truely personal and unique. Or you can knit the honeycomb without the bees to make a modern geometric blanket for the home. This textured blanket is worked all in one, using carefully placed increases and decreases to make a pattern of stems and leaves. It’s worked all in one, so there’s no sewing involved, and the unisex design makes it a good baby shower gift. Instructions are given for four sizes, approx. 51, 62, 73 or 84 cm (19, 24, 29 or 33”) square, with the yardage, stitches and repeats needed for the larger sizes in square brackets.
