An adorable hooded cocoon made in a luxurious wave stitch makes this a must have pattern for baby! What a fun and one of a kind gift this would be. The hooded cocoon is almost for of a sleeping bag than a tight cocoon that can be difficult to squeeze the baby into. It buttons on both sides to allow for easy placement in and/or out. The edge of the cocoon, just below the chin, features a rolled edge look that is simple but clean looking. The hood features a ribbed edging to give it a cozy look around the babies face. This cocoon is made as one piece and the pattern includes sizes 0-3 month, 3-6 month, and 6-12 month. Materials: Hook size J (6 mm) Worsted Weight Yarn (#4) • Newborn size ~ 400 yards • 3-6 Months ~ 560 yards • 6-12 Months ~ 800 yards Buttons – ¾” • 10 buttons for 0-3 \u0026 3-6 month size • 12 buttons for 6-12 month size Yarn Needle \u0026 Scissors Measuring Tape (or way to measure in inches) If you love this design and would like to stay up to date, know about sales and new releases, sign up for the Sweet Potato 3 Newsletter: https://www.subscribepage.com/SweetPotato3Newsletter Check out the patterns on my blog: www.SweetPotato3.com Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sweetpotato3patterns/ Join an interactive crochet group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SP3CrochetConversation **The pattern is available for instant download once the payment has been processed** **See more patterns from Sweet Potato 3 by visiting my etsy shop at: https://www.etsy.com/shop/SweetPotato3Patterns ** **Please note that the listing is for a pattern to make the item yourself, this is not a listing for the physical/completed crochet piece** **The pattern comes in a pdf format and is in U.S (English) instructions only.** **Due to the nature of patterns, all sales are final. Caterpillar Baby Cocoon and Hat Knitting Pattern in Plain English, PDF Number 128 This is a set of instructions, not the physical object. Once you have paid, you will receive an email with instructions for downloading 2 pattern pdf’s, (newborn size and a little bigger) along with 3 other files: 1) yarn and needle terminology and equivalents 2) how to make your own double-pointed needles 3) newborn photography and digital editing tips English and Danish files are provided. Every baby photographer needs this! And if you are having a baby, YOU are a baby photographer! This is two knitting patterns in one. You can choose to make the multi-colored cocoon or the textured ridged cocoon (a little easier and more economical.) These make incredible photo props, and the cocoon is also GREAT for swaddling newborns. So cozy for nursing! The newborn size fits babies from preemie through abou
t 12 pounds. I also send a page with modifications for making it fit 12- to 18-pound babies. This is an estimate. All the yarns I used in the pictured cocoons and hat are inexpensive and available at your craft or fabric store. If you look closely at the photos, you’ll notice that the two striped cocoons are made from different yarns. You’ll have a lot of fun selecting yours. Maybe a pink and purple version for baby girls?! I realize that many of you are not in the US. You will not have any trouble finding yarns to use, I’m sure. I provide both general and specific yarn suggestions. All my patterns have metric measurements included, and I always send a page that explains yarn terms and needle size equivalents. You will need a circular knitting needle to complete both the cocoon and the hat. Double-pointed needles for finishing are also recommended, and I provide a link that gives instructions for making them yourself from a dowel rod that costs pennies. Both the cocoon and the hat are knit in the round, so you will be using the knit stitch all the way on the hat, and knit and purl stitches for the cocoon. There is no seam to sew — VERY EASY! But I do have a back and forth (straight needle) version, which I can email you. I have written this pattern with the novice in mind: Very thorough instructions and only two abbreviations, and I am available for any advice you need via email. I can even send you links to my favorite YouTube videos, if you like. Permission is written on the pattern for you to make as many of these trendy, practical garments as you like: for your own use, to give, OR TO SELL!!!
