As I said is my previous post I wanted to ‘pretty up’ the Bratz Dolls my daughter was given from her cousins. In that post you will find instructions to make earrings. Tutorial: Make a Bratz Doll Dress pattern I’ve made barbie dresses from a a pattern and instructions over at janelwashere.blog.com. The pattern is so easy, fabulous and quick to make so I wanted to use this and alter it to fit a Bratz Doll. PDF Pattern is found here. I took the pattern and printed it out at 80%. We will be using the 2006 Hobbit Barbie bodice. Construction is found here. The only differences in the construction is the seam allowance on the top edge of the bodice had to be a little larger than 1/4 inch (around 1/3 inch) refer below picture. The skirt is 20cm wide and cut it to your desired length. This image shows a comparison from Janel’s original 2006 Hobbit Barbie pattern to the adjusted Bratz pattern. The dark line shows the new seam allowances. For the red floral fabric I made just the bodice and added an elastic waisted skirt. I cut a rectangle of fabric around 14cm by 6cm and finished the top edge of the bodice. Then I layed the pattern piece along the finished edge and cut it out. Then sewed the darts, back seams, added velcro and finally added lace along the bottom edge. The pink shoes were a pair of pale blue slippers made from fabric so I painted them with acrylic paint with Jo Sonja’s Textile medium added to it and once that was dried painted on thinned down white glue and sprinkled glitter on them.
