Besides the fact that I knit it up in the most beautiful yarn I think I’ve ever used, it’s quick and easy! No special techniques needed. The entire sweater is knit in twisted ribbing, just shaped using different size needles. If you’re a beginner, you just need to make sure you know basic knitting techniques! Instead of regular ribbing, you will knit and purl through the back loops. I included instructions for three sizes. The one show in photos being a small, and two slightly larger sizes. Knitting Pattern Top-Down Sweater Pullover Gossamer Twist

Gossamer Twist sweater is a beginner friendly top-down knitting pattern. You will need to be familiar with basic knitting techniques and understand top-down sweater construction in order to make this garment. You will hold three strands of yarn together throughout the pattern, one strand of wool and two strands of silk mohair. First the neck is worked in twisted rib on short tip circular needles, then you will work the yoke with increases and then separately sleeves and body. Worked in stockinette stitch all the way through. Intended to be worn with little ease. 5-10 cm of positive ease is built into the pattern. Read all the way through before you begin. Available in English, Spanish, Danish, German and French. You can find it also in Russian and Italian via Ravelry as etsy only allows 5 different files. Sizes Bust size of the finished sweater with ease built in is XS 33 ½ ”, S 35 ½ ”, M 39 ½ ”, L 43 ¼ ”, XL 47 ¼ ”, 2XL 51”, 3XL 55”, 4XL 60“, 5XL 64”, approximately (XS 85, S 90, M 100, L 110, XL 120, 2XL 130, 3XL 140, 4XL 152, 5XL 162 cm). Gauge 11 stitches by 16 rows = 10 x 10 cm using size US15 / 10 mm needles in stockinette stitch after blocking. Yarn 515, (550), 580, (670), 760, (800), 850, (935), 985 meters of Cestari Sheep \u0026 Wool Co, Mt. Vernon Collection 3 ply bulky weight. Sample shown in color “wheat”. And 105, (110), 120, (135), 145, (160), 170, (185), 195 grams of Drops Kid-Silk Uni Color, 25 grams = 210 meters / 230 yards, sample shown in color 12. Hint; You are welcome to use any bulk weight yarn that meets the gauge. Suggested Needles For the neck; short tip 16”(40 cm) US15 / 10 mm + regular size tip US15/ 10 mm, 32” or 40” (80 cm or 100 cm) circular knitting needles or needles to obtain gauge. Longer needles can be used for the neck and the sleeves if you use magic loop method.
