I find the Southwest style timeless and beautiful. The main block in the quilt is based on the design of a woven blanket made by an American indian woman, called Myrtel. I recreated the design and added matching background and border. Aztec fabric
The design of Myrle’s Legacy is
based on an old woven Navajo rug. A Native American lady, whose name was Myrtle made several of these traditional rugs while living on the reservation. I got the photo of the rug from her granddaughter who wanted to recreate the design in a quilt and I wanted to give tribute to the maker to name the quilt after her. The quilt is featuring the Speckles fabric line from Hoffman California.
